As snow flakes were gently falling down in the darkness of the night, she suddenly turned around, tears rolling on her cheeks. It was the sound of footsteps coming towards her… Afraid not to be seen, the girl tried leaving but it was too late, he was already there shouting her name. She stopped and faced him, nothing else could she do now… He approached her shyly, constantly keeping eye contact thinking about the first time he had seen those amazing green eyes.
-“What are you doing here all by yourself?” he uttered.
She couldn’t tell him even though she had been waiting this moment for so long. It had to remain a secret because she now realized that all those dreams had no solution, he was no more than a fantasy… a fantasy that would soon disappear. Mumbling a “nothing”, she turned around wiping her tears but it was too late, he already saw it.
-“What’s wrong, why are you crying?” said while taking her hands in his, not even imagining that he was the reason for all that sadness. He always considered her to be very interesting, analyzing her every time he had a chance… she couldn't remain unnoticed. There was something about her that not even he could realize and that ‘something’ made him feel very close to her. Seeing her reluctance to speak, he took her in his arms… protectively stroking her hair. He had never felt this way before, this urge to look her in the eyes and say that everything is going to be alright, that he will always be there for her. But he knew that wouldn’t be possible, the following day he was supposed to leave and these were the last moments they had together. As winter marked the ending of the year, so it marked their ending.
They knew they couldn’t be seen in this posture but nothing mattered now, it felt so good to be close to each other that the rest of the world seemed insignificant.
